BoI, Heritage Bank Promote Economic Recovery

Bank of Industry and Heritage Bank have committed to kick-starting economic recovery in Nigeria by promoting entrepreneurship.

According to Heritage Bank this led to its decision to seal a financing deal with the BoI to promote wealth creation and employment among Nigerian youths.

The bank also got a $150m Small and Medium Enterprises funding support from the African Export Import Bank, a frontline African financial institution.

The Managing Director, Heritage Bank, Mr. Ifie Sekibo, restated that the lender’s support for the SMEs programmes would contribute to getting Nigeria out of the current economic recession.

Stressing the importance of its deal with the BoI, Sekibo said, “It is in time of recession that new millionaires emerge. This is an opportunity for the young ones between the ages of 18 and 35 to key into the various financing channels provided by Heritage Bank and the BoI.”

Acting Managing Director, BoI, Mr. Waheed Olagunju, agreed that improved investment in the SMEs would quickly activate an economic recovery in Nigeria.

Supporting young entrepreneurs through funding is key to improving the quality of life of many Nigerian youths with desire to be productive and self-reliant.

Olagunju promised that, “The BoI will keep supporting youths with innovative projects. Visionary and talented youths with viable business plans will be backed by banks to drive the industrialisation of Nigeria.”
